Home construction rebounds

While the Florida Legislature contemplates demolishing the Department of Community Affairs in an attempt to get construction hands back to work, the U.S. Commerce Department reports that housing starts have started back upward. Details are at the Washington Post.

While many states are expanding public access to records via Internet searches, much key information remains hidden away. "The state of access today is quite uneven," said Charles N. Davis, executive director of the National Freedom of Information Coalition, as the 2009 Survey of State Government Information was released in connection with Sunshine Week.
